Bodrum has been a favourite holiday destination for many years now, and tourists flock there every year to experience the beautiful beaches. This is somewhat of a unique region where you will find the very traditional Turkish bars next to the more trendy bars that cater for the younger crowd that enjoy holidays to Bodrum each year. The region caters to sun-worshipers and shopaholics, and everyone in between.
If you are looking for an active nightlife, Bodrum is the place for you. For a seriously full-on bar and club hopping experience, head to Gumbet or Altinkum, Bodrum's party hotspots. The club scene here is excellent. Whether you are into house, garage or funk music, you will find a club that caters to your musical tastes. If you are seeking a more relaxed evening, the towns of Yashi and Yalikavak offer waterfront restaurants and wine bars.
As far as restaurants are concerned, travellers on Bodrum holidays will be spoilt for choice. Kebabs and other traditional Turkish cuisine are widely available, but Bodrum has much more to offer in terms of fine dining choices. The Alara Tavern in Torba serves amazing seafood dishes, as well as delicious 'mezes', which is a traditional selection of small dishes often served as appetizers. This restaurant also offers diners a stunning view of the sea.
For the shopaholics amongst us, Bodrum is a dream. As well as selling traditional Turkish rugs and coffee urns, modern goodies are also widely available. The Oasis Centre is definitely worth visiting, particularly if you are a serious shopper.
